Erica Mahinay: Only Constant: AF Projects, Los Angeles

We are excited to announce that AF Projects will be hosting a solo exhibition featuring works of Erica Mahinay during Frieze Los Angeles, from February 14 to March 31, 2024.

Erica Mahinay’s work sits at the intersection of painting and sculpture. Her corporeal language is sinuous and sublime, dissolving into a dense labyrinth of abstract mark making. She is renown for experimenting with materials and painting on silk as well as other textiles such as parachute material. Often using her hands to apply paint, the artist personalizes and literalizes her brand of gestural abstraction. 

Erica Mahinay was born in 1986 in Santa Fe.
She received her BA from Kansas City Art Institute and MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2013. The artist has had solo exhibitions at Lyles & King, New York, T293 Rome, Ibid Gallery, Los Angeles, Jessica Silverman, San Francisco, Loudhailer, Los Angeles.
She was recently featured in the Hammer Museum 2023 Made in LA exhibition, the Los Angeles Biennial entitled Acts of Living.
